FEELINGS
Despair.
Depression.
Anger.
Guilt.
We all
face
difficult
emotions.
It
often
begins
when we
allow
our
feelings
to get
the
upper
hand.
Unfortunately,
we
either
act
irrational
and
regret
it
later,
or we
bottle
up our
feelings
and
allow
the
corrosive
acid of
our
bitterness
to eat
away at
our
souls
leaving
us numb
inside.
In this
series
called
“feelings,”
we’ll
learn
that
emotions
are
really a
gift
from
God. In
fact,
God has
feelings,
too.
And our
own
emotions
are part
of what
it means
to be
created
in His
image.
At COTH,
we
believe
that
God’s
Word,
the
Bible,
has
vital
information
for us
when it
comes to
dealing
with
feelings.
We’ll
learn
how to
minimize
the
destructive
impact
our
feelings
can have
on
ourselves
and on
others.
And
we’ll
learn
how to
maximize
the
constructive
use of
our
emotions
in ways
that
honor
God.

Some of you might be thinking, "Who are you and why are you here?" Quite frankly, it's alright to ask these types of questions. Simply put, we are a community of people who seek to be passionate Christ-followers by creating an environment where we can connect with God, one another and the world. Helping people to become growing, passionate Christ-followers is not a program of the church, it is the reason for our existence. Jesus was not in to programs or processes. He created an environment, a climate, a culture where he taught His followers what it meant to be a Kingdom citizen by loving the Father, loving others and the world. Jesus created a climate, a culture and an environment where He modeled these values.
Life can be confusing and messy! It is our desire and passion to keep what Christ held dear to His heart simple! Christ engaged his life in connecting with His Father, with one another and with the world. It is our mission to model what Christ did on earth and what He calls us to be as Kingdom citizens...disciples or learners.

Life is all about relationships, our relationship with God and with one another. Jesus believed this also! In fact, when asked, “What is the greatest commandment?”, Jesus responded…
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Matthew 22:37-39 ESV
Life also is about reaching out to those we don’t know through compassionate service. It is giving our self away for the benefit of others.
“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Philippians 2:4 ESV
“For God so loved the world, that he gave His only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16 ESV
Therefore, our vision is to help people to become growing, passionate Christ-followers, by creating an environment where we Love God, Love One Another, and Love Our World.

To some, the idea of an intimate
relationship with the Creator of the
universe seems unbelievable. How could this
be possible? Does God really care about
every detail of my life?

Our new community groups are taking shape within the Nordonia Hills area. Our new series, Contact, is the first study in a group of series that will walk us through why Church of the Hills exists and why community is so important. This is a five week series that will help us explore what it looks like to be focused on the needs within our community. Please contact our community life pastor, Mark Stegall, if you are interested in joining a community group or if you are interested in receiving more information regarding a community group in your area.

Over the past year, COTH has had the
opportunity to serve our community at the
2007 Nordonia Hills Chamber of Commerce
Community Expo, the 2007 Nordonia Hills
Community Duathlon, and the Olde Northfield
Bicentennial Celebration as well as
partnering with the Longwood YMCA last
summer in a week of Day Camp. In 2008,
we will be returning to the Community Expo (http://nhcoc.org/expo_2008.htm)
as well as engaging in other community,
national and international compassionate
service projects.

Global Engagement Ministry, contact Randy Chestnut.
