Reflection

It won’t be long! The dressing, the sweet potatoes, the cranberry sauce, the pumpkin pie, and, of course, the turkey! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday (it may be the football too). It is a time in the year where we are encouraged to reflect on how we have been blessed, and to give thanks.

But, for the Christ-follower, thanksgiving should be more than a holiday. It should be a state of mind and heart. But how, in a culture of entitlement and “more, more, more!” can we cultivate an attitude of gratitude?

Let Us

The leaves have turned. The temperature is falling. And chances are, you have already turned on the heat!

We are blessed to live in homes with climate controlled environments. Whether it is air conditioning in the Summer or heat in the Fall, with a few adjustments on the thermostat, we can adjust and regulate the temperature for our comfort. A church also has a “climate”… It can be cold, luke-warm or hot! You and I play an important part in setting the “temperature” for Church of the Hills’ environment.

Glocal

God has called us to not only reach the uttermost parts of the earth, but he has given us the challenge to reach the world around us. We as believers are called to go first into our Judea and Samaria to reach our neighbors for Christ. Join us for a Missions emphasis weekend at Church of the Hills as we plan to go "Glocal".

A Good Connection

This weekend we will begin a new teaching series, “Destination”. “When Jesus said He was building His church, it is clear His intention was not to create an institution, but a movement. His words, “follow me” are as powerful and compelling today as they were 2,000 years ago. But where is He leading us? Join COTH as we explore “Destination”.

Enduring

Have you ever watched a building going up, from foundation to completion? The architectural firm, the general contractor, the carpentars, the plumbers, the painters, the electricians, all working together for this common purpose… “Let’s get this thing built!” What started as a concept in someone’s mind, eventually becomes a reality, through hard work and teamwork. I still find it amazing!

Well, God is in the business of building His Church and He invites us to be a part of the process.

Risk Takers

With all the volatility in the markets this week, one of the last words anyone wants to hear is “RISK”! The Bible tells us God promises His children security, peace, and assurance. Yet, it is clear that Jesus values risk. After all, He said…”For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” (Matthew 16:25). Is this a contradiction? Or, is it possible to have peace WHILE losing our life for the King and His Kingdom?
